Gordon Moore
An excerpt from an insightful and prescient discussion between Gordon Moore, Andy Grove, Ray Kurzweil, Les Vadasz, Dov Frohman, Federico Faggin, Carver Mead and Tedd Hoff (Link)
Gordon Moore: “So sometime between 2010 and 2020 I think we’re going to be up against this physical limit and making things smaller doesn’t help anymore.
But it’s not the only thing. Even with the limit we have had, we’ll be putting a billion transistors on a logic chip. With a budget of a billion transistors, our engineers will have phenomenal ability to innovate. Almost anything they can think of can be realized in that complexity. So it’s not the end of progress in the industry. ”
